I'm seeing something very peculiar with the latest kernels (2.6.9-22 and 2.6.9-22.0.1) in RHEL4 AS hosts running under one of my VM LPARs. We see the following messages at the console during the boot process: *
HCPIPN2833E Error 'E00A'X adding IP address 9.20.122.60 for VSWITCH SYSTEM VSWVMM1. HCPIPN2833E IP address is already in use on the LAN.
*the "local" tag is then displayed against the vswitch entry for the host (when issuing CP QUERY VSWITCH DETAILS), and the host is unable to connect to it's default route. If I boot up using a 2.6.9-11 kernel, we don't see the messages and affected hosts come up on the network with out issue. I've cheked and there certainly isn't anything on the network using the same ip addresses, there are no clashes with the assigned mac addresses either. There is also no problem if hosts use dedicated OSA connections with the 2.6.9-22 / 2.6.9-22.01 kernels. What's even more peculiar is on a different VSWITCH on a different physical machine and VM LPAR (that's very lightly loaded) - there is no such interaction between the vswitch and the kernel level, both systems are at z/VM 5.1.0 and the z/VM TCPIP code is at the same level. Has anyone else seen this sort of behaviour before?
