No. Others may differ, but what I do is *start* with a disk about the same size as the virtual machine, and run for a while to observe the behavior of the application and get a nominal swap usage figure. I then break it down to several VDISKs of smaller sizes (usually one about 10-20% bigger than the "nominal" figure, and another one about half that size) to maximize the opportunities for I/O. > Linux usually doubles the size of the defined memory. > So, for example, a Linux guest is defined with 100 meg, > the swap size will usually be around 200meg Do I need to > define a v-disk size of 200meg? This is also a good approach, but see above wrt to using several smaller disks that add up to that figure. > Also, what is the latest and greatest way of setting up a > v-disk? If running under VM, use SWAPGEN EXEC. If running in LPAR, you have to do it the hard way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
