The original poster was only talking about using backup clients on Linux,
not a server.  The lack of support for non-FCP tape drives is just one
example of Tivoli's attitude towards mainframe users that I referenced.

We looked at TSM, but we were told that TSM wouldn't backup to mainframe
attached (ficon) tape drives.  They will backup to FCP attached tape
drives.

If some knows that TSM will use ficon tape drives, we will look at it
again.
