I used wget straight to the zSeries Linux instance it failed on...
dos2unix fixed it up...

You are right. I downloaded it from linuxvm.org and got that too:
./mksles9root.marks.sh
: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
It looks like some DOS turds got in there somehow:
