Btw rick, newer 2.6.x. kernels do have FUSE (filesystems in userspace environment), and I guess both SuSE and RH will have it in their next distros. I believe CMSFS and FUSE would fit together very well - and the FUSE interface is kernel ABI, thus it will work with any future kernel version...
