Yes, I know..   I am thinking of creating a direct sender  in the COBOL
that opens a socket and a listener on the UNIX end that receive the data.
That is  one write to the disk, and the other to  the network. thahks

Make sure you evalutate the performance of such a solution, as the
application will run more slowly with NFS in the picture.
