OK, that should have the necessary layer 2 support in the network device
drivers. SLES 9 definitely does.

When you say "attached to z/VM x.x and z/VM assigned" do you mean that
the OSA is available to VM, or that it's attached to VM TCPIP? You want
it to be available to VM and attached directly to the guest or under the
control of a VSWITCH.

As others have said, link bonding isn't what you want to do here unless
you are trying to aggregate bandwidth; if I understand you correctly,
you want to do IP or MAC address takeover for HA. If so, then you should
look at the packages in openssi.org wrt to the cluster IP address
takeover code. It relies on the ability to see and react to raw frames
on the wire, so you need to solve the OSA/VSWITCH layer 2/layer 3
question first (you really want layer 2 support for this application).

If you have to do this at layer 3, then you can do some source IP
munging with the ip-route2 advanced routing package and having your
network routers accept specific host routes for your virtual IP address
from routing software running on the linux guests. Be warned -- this is
possible, but it will *not* be a trivial configuration exercise.
