I'm saying that there is nothing built-in to the stock Linux kernel to do this. There have been a variety of mods posted here that try to use PARM on the IPL statement, but I have no idea if those mods are still current. The use of vmcp in the newest kernels (with cpint's hcp on prior kernel versions) should meet your Head Sysprog's requirements. (And the more virtual unit record devices you define, the more room you have for TAG data.)
