Mike,

WebSphere will intall into /opt/IBM/WebSphere. A full mod 3 should be
enough. With V6 profiles, you could have the r/w data written to a
different file system if you want, or you could let it default and thus
have binaries and apps mixed (then a mod 3 may not be large enough). DB2
will install into /opt/IBM/db2.  A mod 1 should be enough for the
binaries. Data will default to /home/db2inst1. MQ series will install into
/opt/mqm. A mod 1 should be enough for the binaries. Data will default to
/var/mqm.

So it depends a lot on the software and I would say is hard to find a
one-size-fits-all disk schema. You can configure where WebSphere and DB2
data resides (not sure about MQ), but I would hesitate to change where the
binaries go.
