Mike, WebSphere will intall into /opt/IBM/WebSphere. A full mod 3 should be enough. With V6 profiles, you could have the r/w data written to a different file system if you want, or you could let it default and thus have binaries and apps mixed (then a mod 3 may not be large enough). DB2 will install into /opt/IBM/db2. A mod 1 should be enough for the binaries. Data will default to /home/db2inst1. MQ series will install into /opt/mqm. A mod 1 should be enough for the binaries. Data will default to /var/mqm.
So it depends a lot on the software and I would say is hard to find a one-size-fits-all disk schema. You can configure where WebSphere and DB2 data resides (not sure about MQ), but I would hesitate to change where the binaries go. Hope this helps.
