Also check out ext2online and lvextend. What distribution are you using? I have RHEL3 and RHEL4. RHEL3 has e2fsadm, RHEL4 has ext2online. (They aren't Red Hat-specific utilities, so you should have access to them with SUSE or any other distributino). e2fsadm only works on unmounted filesystems, but it will automatically resize the underlying device. ext2online works on a mounted filesystem, but the underlying device must be resized first (parted or lvextend).
Yes, you can resize / as well. -Tim -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jose Raul Baron Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2006 3:10 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Incrise the size of /home OK Tim. Yes, I use LVM2. I will give a look at e2fsadm. I am not very sure but I have the impression that / can also be resized ? That would be interesting too. Thank you very much. Saludos, José R. Should be fine for a basic server. If you load up a bunch of X-based stuff, you may start running out of room. 2. Are you using lvm? If so, see e2fsadm. If not, I use parted to resize the underlying partition, then resize2fs to resize the filesystem itself. -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jose Raul Baron Sent: Monday, March 27, 2006 2:50 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Incrise the size of /home Hi everyone, I have a couple linux-related issue. Maybe my questions are much too basic but I'm still quite a rookie, so please forgive me if so. Here go my questions: 1.- I have currently 2'3 GB (1 x 3339 cyl. 3390-3 disk) for my linux system. Is this OK or is it too little for a production Linux System ? 2.- I would like to increase the size of /home. Is it possible ? if so, how ? should I first mount a filesystem, copy everything into it and then mount that filesystem into /home ? Any help will be very welcome. Thanks in advance. Saludos, José R.
