On our DS6800, PAV support is a chargeable option.

Is it chargable on your box and/or did you pay for it?

One thing to consider in favor of some large volumes (when they don't
get in the way of performace), is something about the total number of
addresses available. I think I have either 256 or 512 available. No
problem with 4 TB to have all 3390-3 volumes. But then we starting
planning/budgetting for 6000 unit. Perhaps 150 GB drives (2 TB) or with
300 GB drives (4 TB). I haven't gone thru this on paper yet, but in the
back of my mind, I think I there is an address limitation problem when I
start getting in the 6-8 TB subsystems.

Hi we did our Shark back in 2004 with a mix of 3s and 9s.
0 problems with the server configurator or the IODEF but it was all
used
z/so 1.4.
Do you plan PAV implementation?

best regards,
Frank
