Hi, Most systems have file systems on them. Perhaps file systems that were created when you weren't around. How can you tell what block size the file systems were created with? mke2fs says it should default correctly. It also says if you specify 1K blocks on your mke2fs and your dasdfmt specified 4K blocks that you will indeed use a full 1K of each formatted 4K block.
