Mike,
The last few lines in my SLES9 version of /etc/modprobe.conf say:
<snip>
# end of s390 part for modprobe.conf
# please keep this at the end and add local modifications to
modules.conf.local
include /etc/modprobe.conf.local
Consequently, that's where I put mine. :-)
Best regards,

Mark,
Thanks for the response but I found out what the script is
(/sbin/generate-modprobe.conf | tee /etc/modprobe.conf). I had to ftp my
prior Linux modules.conf file to the SuSE9 system and the run the
script. It appears to have worked, (as best that I can tell at this
point). We are running Linux on a IBM z800 processor. The items I was
wanting to convert was the definitions for my IBM 3485 tape library.
Again thanks.............

I doubt you would need (or even _want_) to run a script to do this.
What do the current contents of modules.conf look like?

Subject: SuSE8 to SuSE9
Can someone give me some direction? I have installed SuSE9 on a new
system and I currently have SuSE8.1 on another system that I want to
migrate my applications to the new system. For one of the applications
I
need to convert my /etc/modules.conf file. I have noticed that
/etc/modules.conf is nolonger used in SuSE9, it is now
/etc/modprobe.conf. IBM keeps telling me that there is a script to run
but does not elaberate on what the command should look like to convert
my modules.conf to the new file. Can someone help me in this respect.
Thank,
Mike Lovins
