Yep, you are really screwed..<G>

My take is like hitting a moving target.

On a WIN/98 box, I mounted the Linux SLES7 CDs and it worked.
SLES8 didn't like that.
My PC was upgraded to WIN/2000.
SLES8 Liked the FTP server function there.
When I went to SLES9, it didn't like the FTP on WIN/2000.
So at that time, I decided to get away from MS (one less thing changing
that I couldn't control).
So I brought up a SLES8 FTP server on the mainframe. (much faster to
do installations that didn't have to go out on the 'net', and my PC was
limited to 10mbs., but I didn't like taking several GB of mainframe dasd
to support the server...ohh well).

Now I have SLES8, SLES9 31 bit and SLES9 64 bit installation and
service packs on this server.

Eventually I will upgrade this FTP "installation server" to SLES9 or
perhaps skip to SLES10 (or whatever becomes available) just to get rid
of an old SLES image. But it works fine.

BTW, now I'm on a WIN/XP box so I missed any problems due to another PC
upgrade. My instructions on how to use the FTP server from several
years ago, STILL WORK!
