Tom, the z900 remains "current" for a little while longer; on April 4 of this year we announced: All models of z900 will be withdrawn effective June 30, 2006. All upgrades from Parallel Enterprise Servers Generation 5 (9672), Parallel Enterprise Servers Generation 6 (9672), and IBM eServer zSeries 800 (2066) to z900 (2064) will be withdrawn effective June 30, 2006. Model conversions within the z900 and MES features on the z900 will continue to be available until October 2, 2006. After October 2, 2006, model conversions within the z900 and MES features on the z900 will no longer be available. So, if you want to upgrade your z900, do so before October 2. The z800 was withdrawn back in December. Note: Neither the service contracts for these machines, nor z/VM's support for them, are affected by their withdrawal from marketing.
