Hmm, Makes me wonder....
So what if you have a couple of read-only mini-disks and one is say the 'test
tree' and one is the 'prod tree' and you wish to mount the test tree
where the prod tree was. How do you tell Linux what VM already knows (The disk
is RO) during startup so you camt mount the VM specified RO mioni-disk
as RW to linux? Had our WAS guy have this happen - Yes, I know you can specify
it at mount but since VM knows it's r/O, Why doesn't Linux pick it up
from the device layer in the first place?

Ronald,
Thanks for the append.
