Some things that come to my mind immediately:

Positives for minidisks:

Much simpler creation of 2nd level test systems -- copy to new
volume/mdisk for 2nd level and don't mess up real volsers

Much simpler DR -- can be restored to replacement disks w/o relabeling
or disturbing existing volume naming scheme.

Minidisks are accessible from other userids (dedicated devices are not
accessible from other ids) for dumping, etc (cf other ongoing discussion
on backups).

MDC for minidisks can be trivially re-enabled non-disruptively if you
need/want it.

Negatives:

Lose hardware IOASSIST feature for non-dedicated volumes. Not as
important as it used to be, but still noticeable.
