Somehow I missed the original question, but in order to accomplish
mounts to a z/OS controlled STK library (the z/OS software is called
NCS), you need the Library Station component running under NCS/HSC on
z/OS, and you need the software running on Linux to understand the
NCS/Library Station/ACSLS API. Newer versions of TSM speak directly to
LibStation, older versions need an add-on from Gresham Computing called
EDT.

As for other applications, as long as they habla the ACSLS API, they
should work.

STK has support for "open system" clients to talk to the z/OS host
component to accomplish tape mounts. I believe it's called Library
Station - and it may require an add-on to HSC as well.
