2) load the st module, it should create /dev/stX devnodes (or something like that, check dmesg output to be sure). You should also look to see if the drives you are using like another driver on top of st - for example, If you were using an IBM LTO 358x you would also want the IBMTape driver. If you get all the drivers loaded and can interact with the tape drives using tar or whatever.
