Robert,

I assume you mean that you've connect 2 PCHIDs :)

FLOGI is sent when the PCHID is config'ed on.

If you have a z9 and are trying to use NPIV, there is a PD panel called
"Fabric Login Status". It will tell you if the channel ucode thinks it is
logged in. The SE navigation is:

        * highlight PCHID or CHPID
        * scroll to "Channel Operations"
        * double click the "Channel Problem Determination" icon
        * answer some questions if using PCHID
        * "Fabric Login Status" should be an option at the bottom

With NPIV, there is an additional ELS that is important called an FDISC.
This is sent when the channel processes the start subchannel CCW, which
won't happen until you do your operating system configuration. In Linux,
it can be done like this:

        echo 1 > /sys/bus/ccw/drivers/zfcp/0.0.4700/online

Thanks,

Subject
FCP and logging into the SAN fabric

We have two CHPids now attached to our SAN fabric, and we want to try
giving some space to a Linux image. We found our WWPN on the HMC, but
our SAN people say that we have never "logged in" to the fabric, so they
don't see us.

How do I go about getting the CHPid to log into the fabric?
