Hy,
Thank you all for your info.
I downloaded the DVD iso now. I checked the MD5SUM of the iso-file, and
now I was sure it was correct.
After the upload, it still remained the same.
Me and Kris (Buelens IBM belgium) started looking at possible causes why
the initrd file was wrong.
Originaly I uploaded the files using PCOMM. Looking at the file, gave a
padding with 0x20 (not working)
Then kris used another tool (ALMCOPY), wich padded the file with 0x40 (not
working).
A 3rth attempt using ftp padded the file with binary zero's. This was
working!
So, ftp is not "a" sollution to get the files onto VM, it is the ONLY
sollution.
The files from SLES9 where allready on VM from testers before me, so these
where not uploaded.

Hy,
We are trying to install a new Linux version on our z/VM system. It is
actually our first attempt to install Linux under VM.
I have created a user in the directory as follows:
USER LINUX001 ZOMER 512M 1024M G
IPL CMS PARM AUTOCR
MACHINE ESA 10
OPTION MAINTCCW RMCHINFO
XSTORE 32M
CONSOLE 0009 3215 T

MDISK 0151 3390 3094 200 LXF1C4 MR
MDISK 0192 3390 51 100 LXF1C5 MR
I have uploaded the necassary files to this user and placed them on its B
(192) drive.
these are
Cmd Filename Filetype Fm Format Lrecl Records Blocks
SLES10 IMAGE B1 F 80 75579 1123
SLES10 INITRD B1 F 80 103269 2017
SLES10 PARM B1 F 80 1 1
when i load them to the rdr, and ipl from it, it gives a kernel panic.
I can't seem to find any information on this problem on the internet.
Can you maybe help me?
the ipl of the sles10 gives:
Ready LINUX001 at VMKBME01 ; T=0.01/0.01 10:28:19
