In these SLES9 from SLES7 installation and SLES10 upgrade from SLES9
discussions, there is an excellent clue! Look at the /var/log/YaST2/y2log
file, it is loaded with helpful information. I discovered why I could not
install SLES9 while SLES10 was a breeze. Same Hercules installation, etc...
I use FTP for both installations. On my peer system (CTC peer-to-peer), I
mounted the media -o loop on /mnt. In the dialog for 9 & 10 I told SLES to
look at my peer and use my uid/pwd to get to it. Well on 9, it uses curl
ftp://uid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/mnt but my uid/pwd does not log into /, it logs
into my
home directory so it could never find /mnt. On 10 it must do something
different, eg ftp into the peer using uid/pwd and then cd /mnt. I was
stumped until I remembered the y2log that someone (Mark?) mentioned. Now I
am finally getting SLES 9 to install on my Hercules.
