Thanks very much to Adam and David for the info. I think that clarifies things for me.

Ask us. We're fairly friendly. 8-) Adam posted some info; the really important bit is that the code we wrote provides the missing piece to drive the process of getting the right physical tape volume into the tape drive so that Linux can read or write it. Since IBM has so far not provided a Linux device interface for channel-attached tape autoloaders, our code gets CMS to do that bit of the work for the Linux instance. To keep most ATLs and VSSes happy, you should also ensure that you have enabled ANSI/IBM SL support in Bacula, so that the tapes can be normal SL tapes. You also need to prepare any tape that you plan to use with Bacula to have the correct signature -- see the ITAPE EXEC in the Bacula contrib directory on what Bacula expects before it will allow you to use a IBM SL tape with Bacula. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
