Uh, new iMacs are Intel.
I'm confused, I'm more familiar with the notebooks: the Intel-based
notebooks have different names.
All new macs are Intel-based.
I know that. The name "imac" was already used to refer to a PPC-based
mac: we have a couple. I thought Apple used some other name, as it dod
for laptops. Apparently not.
I reckon my new used Thinkpad* (R40 2722-GDM for the curious) is
better
than the Mac notebooks I've seen. Good battery life, reasonable-sized
disk, excellent screen (1440x1050), a vacant slot into which I popped
another Gb RAM, 11abg wireless. Likes penguins.
You clearly haven't seen many recent Mac notebooks.
True, I work in a small organisation. There's a total of one Intel-based
notebook.
