Unless you have REALLY pointy shoes, stamping doesn't really help
with ticks. I myself usually use the pliers on my Leatherman.

I'm part of Gateway Search Dogs, which trains dogs for searching for
lost people. Most of the ticks I get are during training sessions,
as we tend to have them in wooded areas, and we do a lot of getting
intimate with the vegetation.
