John, yes you are correct. zAAPs and zIIPs are ment to lower TCO of new workload on z/OS. For Linux you have IFL which is MUCH cheaper than regular CP. And what is important, it is alway full speed engine regardless of speed of your subcapacity CPs. (same applies to zIIP and zAAP).
