Just for silliness. I vaguely remembered something from long ago on 3270s. I don't know if it is supported in any current TN3270E emulator. But there is the SFE (Start Field Extended) order. One of the Extended orders is "trigger" which says to send in the modified data when the user exits a "field" which has just been modified. This is without the user pressing any AID key. IIRC, unlike the SF order, the SFE order does not "take a space" on the device. I think this means that, if someone were crazy enough, they could create an entire 24x80 screen where each position had an SFE with the "trigger" order set. Again, IIRC, this means that any keystroke would cause the 3270 I/O buffer to be sent to the Linux system in "normal" format. But the screen is "frozen" (keyboard locked) until the the host sends back a reply.
