You can share tape drives between zLinux instances, but not on the same
path for a given drive unless you have NPIV. I do not, so I configured two
FCP channels for use by my two TSM servers as follows:
FCP 4C00 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV1 0C90 CHPID D0
FCP 4D00 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV2 0C90 CHPID D1
FCP 4C01 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV2 0C91 CHPID D0
FCP 4D01 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV1 0C91 CHPID D1
FCP 4C02 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV1 0C92 CHPID D0
FCP 4D02 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV2 0C92 CHPID D1
FCP 4C03 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV2 0C93 CHPID D0
FCP 4D03 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV1 0C93 CHPID D1
FCP 4C04 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV1 0C94 CHPID D0
FCP 4D04 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV2 0C94 CHPID D1
FCP 4C05 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV2 0C95 CHPID D0
FCP 4D05 ATTACHED TO TSMSERV1 0C95 CHPID D1

Virtual address 0C90 above represents the same physical drive on each
server. I could have allocated all TSMSERV1's drives on one FCP CHPid and
all TSMSERV2's drives on the other but chose to alternate them primarily
for availability (in case a CHPid died) but also for load balancing.

Without NPIV, I could add a third TSM server, but I'd have to add a third
FCP CHPid also.
