Graft a VM TCPIP stack on the vm lpar to the hipersocket CHPID. See if:
1. it can ping and vice versa with the linux virtual machine
2. see if it can ping and vice versa with one or both of the MVS LPARs.

Sometime a wimpy zvm stack machine comes in handy.
