I doubt that's the issue here. He's talking about 130 times -9 already
so I am not sure how much more you want to spread data. The idea of
going to 400 model 3's does not sound attractive to me. Neither does
the idea of adding more subchannels to the data through PAV.

A useful approach to move forward with this would be to look at the
z/VM performance data to understand what is holding the server back.
Depending on that, you'd have to look inside Linux for further detail.
If you collect some monitor data I can have a look at it.
