The patching philosophy is dependant on the distribution that you use. That is, RedHat, Novell, other. IBM does post patches to the s390x, but if you want to use them, you will need to download them yourself, use the "patch" command, and recompile. IBM does not support yum or yast or anything else. IBM does not maintain a "maintenance server" that I am aware of, again that is up to Redhat, Novell, etc. IBM releases patches on an aperiodic basis depending on when they are available.
