I have successfully used ext2online many times with SLES10 SP1, on a
few occasions it failed to work (nothing bad just refused due to
inode errors, even after a clean fsck.), and then I unmounted the FS
and ran resize2fs without any problems.
Just for the record....
All FS that I have run ext2online against were under LVM2 and the
physical DASD (Shark) were 3390-9's in multiples of 3 with striping of
3 (-i3).
The few times I had an error they were of the form " ........... inode
table has offset 2, not 4" - and I could never find a suitable
explanation :-(
And while we are on the subject here is a successful ext2online, but
with strange warnings about "RAID stride" - anyone from SuSE got any
ideas (SLES10 SP1):
ihlscob0:~ # lvextend -i3 -L30G system/common
Using stripesize of last segment 64.00 KB
Extending logical volume common to 30.00 GB
Logical volume common successfully resized
ihlscob0:~ # ext2online /common
ext2online v1.1.18 - 2001/03/18 for EXT2FS 0.5b
This is odd, the RAID stride is not constant at -516!
This is odd, the RAID stride is negative (-516)!
Using a RAID stride value of 0
ihlscob0:~ # df -kvh /common
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/system-common
30G 20G 8.2G 71% /common
