John, normally I get nothing but the secuser messages, unless there is a reboot, then I get all of those message. A quick scan of my logs shows a dasd(eckd): I/O status report for device 0.0.1149, so I guess you get those too. Basically, you don't need it when all is well... but you really need it when all is not well.
