The 3270 session is really a last resort to resolve network issues and
such. Even with that, there is an HMC based ASCII interface that can be
attached to a virtual machine when needed, so that the 3270 device is
not needed.
I would suggest getting your network connections working so that you can
use ssh to connect to the mainframe, just like the Linux guys like to
see... :)

interface for? It is not intended for day-to-day use and when it is
