The simplest method I can think of is: 1) Build a new SLES10 virtual machine. It's not like you have to order hardware...8-) 2) Install Oracle on the new virtual machine. 3) During a service window, dump the Oracle tables to disk or tape, or set up Oracle replication and replicate the tables to the new instance. 3.5) Test against the new image. 4) If you used replication, break the mirror. 5) Shut down the SLES 8 system 6) Update DNS to point to the SLES 10 system. And my favorite step of all: 7) Find all the hardcoded IP addresses in client setups and fix them to point to the DNS name... 8-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
