Run RHEL 4 on the s390 and I have gone through the steps to add a new dasd device to my system, while the system was active. I took all steps laid out in numerous documents, including updating modprobe.conf, mkinitrd, zipl, etc... I can see the device and online the device; however, upon a reboot the device is offline. After the reboot I can bring the device online and mount the filesystem etc... Any idea why the device may not be online after a reboot?
