That's not exactly correct, if you mean you need to contact a human at Novell 
at some point.  You can create a Novell Customer Center account, download the 
SLES10 Starter System (or just SLES10 if you don't have z/VM), and enter the 
activation code for a 180-day evaluation period, all without having to interact 
with a person.
