While not directly Linux on Z related, found this little gem after
talking to some people at IBM Germany. The Baden-Wurtemburg school
administration has created a Linux-based network server appliance
designed for school use. Very complete, *very* well documented, and
looks like a fire-and-forget install. It's apparently designed to be a
replacement for something like Windows Small Business Server, but
customized for school applications. 

 

The article is in German, but Google translation does an adequate job.
It's worth reading about.
