1. LOGON to REXECD and #CP I CMS 2. When prompted for startup, say no 3. RPIVAL <userid> <password> in upper case. RPIVAL is the name given to ACFSAFA0. This is what the server is (ultimately) issuing. If you CP TRACE DIAG A0 you will see RPIVAL (ACFSAFA0 MODULE) issuing it. That is where the rubber meets the road. If you look in ACF2 books you should find information about the module or the diagnose. Also do CP TRACE PROG. 1. REXECD doesn't have authority to issue the underlying diagnose instruction 2. The userid is bad 3. The password is bad The message you got on the rexec indicates that RPIVAL gave back RC=8.
