I just did about SLES10 SP2 (and perhaps prior) for System z.  It turns out 
that if you have a properly crafted AutoYaST install file (autoinst.xml), and 
your kernel parmfile has all the required network information, install server 
information, and pointer to autoinst.xml, AND you say you want to use VNC, you 
don't ever actually have to logon via VNC.  The install just runs "in the 
background" as it were, without any need to actually connect from your 
workstation.  All you have to do is wait for the point where the machine enters 
a disabled wait (after the first phase is complete), and then re-IPL from your 
boot volume.  If you have SECUSER set, and some automation watching for it, it 
could likely be done completely hands-off.

Almost scary.
