I'm not sure, you didn't give any real details.  No, it's not that hard to 
update software, so something isn't right.

What are your current versions of these packages (rpm -q)?  What does YOU show 
for the new versions of the packages?

One thing you can do that will show lots of (too much probably) detail is from 
the command line:
online_update -d -s -V security recommended patchlevel document optional

This will not install anything (unless you remove the -d switch), but it will 
tell you what is available and what would be installed if run for real.
