It might, or it might not. The support was put into YaST with SP2, but "some" ext3 file systems created prior to SP2 had (something I don't know the exact details about) incorrect file system metadata in them. My experience, and that of others, was that it would work just fine in a number of cases, and then not on a different file system or on another system entirely. In those cases you'll still need to unmount the file system and use the resize2fs command on it. Or, create a new file system and migrate the data to it so that you won't have the problem again in the future.
