At this shop nobody is going to notice how long it takes to boot Linux.  They 
start from XAUTOLOG, and the operators are doing other work while they boot.

Have you booted Linux without a working resolver? It's extremely slow,
you will notice (especially if using sendmail). OTOH, adding this bogus
information to /etc/hosts will make it boot nice and quickly, just like
there's nothing wrong.

If it's broken, I want to know. I do not want the problem hidden like this.
