Hello lists, The latest "Virtualization Cookbooks" are now published IBM Redbooks, not drafts. They are:
-) "z/VM and Linux on IBM System z The Virtualization Cookbook for SLES 10 SP2", SG24-7493 on the Web at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247493.html -) "z/VM and Linux on IBM System z The Virtualization Cookbook for RHEL 5.2", SG24-7492 on the Web at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247492.html There are associated tar files for each book. If you're pulling down the books you might want to get the tar files at the same time. Start at ftp://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/ and search for SG247493 (SLES book) or SG247492 (RHEL book). The ITSO editors are now three-for-three in ripping out the Albert Einstein quotes at the start of each chapter :(( Oh well. The good news is that it seems the command highlighting was left alone, making the books more usable/readable, IMHO. It is worth mentioning new or changed sections since the last set (on linuxvm.org/present): -) Updated for the latest: z/VM 5.4, SLES 10 SP2 and RHEL 5.2 -) Two 3390-3s are recommended, not just one as in the past -) More flexible LVM-based file systems are recommended to better allow for growth -) Golden image on separate user IDs/clone script has "from" and "to" - allows for multiple golden images -) "Travelling" /home file system is described which uses NFS and automount -) CMM1 and VMRM are described -) Defining a larger DCSS for the Performance Toolkit As always, there is no formal (but informal) support, feedback is welcome, and the price is right :)) Thanks to the many, many others who made these books possible, especially Brad Hinson, Marian Gasparovic, and Lydia Parziale.
