My question is, what are you using for your paging device? A VDISK? A minidisk? Something else? If the answer is a VDISK, then I would have to say that increasing the size of it had nothing to do with your LVM problem. It might be something as "simple" as the ordering of your DASD devices got changed, and someone/thing inside Linux issued a mkswap command to the wrong device. Pure speculation, of course.
