We drive a lot of CMS/CP commands and Rexx scripts from Linux. I use the following:
http://www.vm.ibm.com/download/packages/descript.cgi?LXCMS This is a client/server package that allows you to set up one or more userids on z/VM to process commands from a Linux machine. The neat part that I found over HCP is that I can have one webserver on Linux and issue commands to all of my VM LPARs. This is more lightweight than SSH-ing to a Linux system on each VM LPAR to do the same thing via HCP. However, it isn't as secure. Just another possibility to look at. ________________________________ From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gary Detro Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 1:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: HCP for zLinux Question I am trying to use zLinux to run a rexx program on another machine in my z/VM 5.4 system. I am thinking about using SETSECUSER and the CP SEND commands to be executed from HCP utility in a zLinux guest. Has anyone done anything in this environment. What is behind this question is that we use SSH to have zLinux execute scripts that get kicked off from a web-browser as a form of automation. Thanks, Detro Senior IT Specialist 1177 S.
