I know of at least two sites that are all-FCP, no ECKD at all, and are perfectly happy. > EDEVICE - Is this not recommended in any configuration, even low I/O servers? > Is that the plan 'forever', or just until anything might change relating to > performance improvements with newer versions of z/VM. > No, stick with ECKD or Linux owned FCP. See my earlier comments. Or even what versions of z/VM and Linux would support that. Not directly Linux experience, but OpenSolaris certainly makes extensive use of that capability and it seems acceptable at a pretty good load. I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
