Craig,

I have three LPARs that run Linux for zSeries.

The SUSE Linux install program has a way to format the drives. Once you
boot the system and have gained access to the installer via VNC, you are
presented with a series of panels. On one of them, you "activate" the
dasd. Another option on that screen allows you to format the dasd.

No VM. It will be native LPAR.

Thanks,
  Craig

Hi, Craig.

"That depends" (tm, B. Bitner, IBM Endicott)....are you
running Linux as a guest of z/VM or native in an LPAR?
