I'd like to encode in the PARMFILE as many of the answers to SLES 11's install prompts as is possible. Here's what we start with:
ramdisk_size=65536 root=/dev/ram1 ro init=/linuxrc TERM=dumb Broadcast=10.202.200.255 Gateway=10.202.200.101 HostIP=10.202.200.124 Hostname=linux024.ca.com Layer2=0 Portname=INTRANET Install=http://10.202.207.39/novell/sles11/zseries/ga/dvd1 Nameserver=10.202.1.92 Netmask=255.255.255.0 Password=abcdefgh Username=anonymous UseVNC=1 VNCPassword=abcdefgh ReadChannel=0.0.0c00 WriteChannel=0.0.0c01 DataChannel=0.0.0c02 OsaInterface=qdio OsaMedium=eth InstNetDev=osa Notice I've removed "manual=1". With this PARMFILE I still get two prompts. One for port number and one for name server: IBM OSA Express Network card drivers: qeth* IBM OSA Express Network card drivers: qeth* IBM OSA Express Network card drivers: qeth* IBM OSA Express Network card drivers: qeth* IBM OSA Express Network card drivers: qeth* IBM OSA Express Network card drivers: qeth* IBM IUCV drivers: netiucv loading netiucvnetiucv.8db02b: driver initialized Reading driver update: disk:/?device=*usb* Enter the relative port number > The answer for us is "zero" for the port number. Then I get: Enter the IP address of your name server. Leave empty or enter "+++" if you don't need one [10.202.1.92]> Notice the install program seems to know the answer, it's just asking again. How can I fix these last two prompts via the PARMFILE? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
