Technically true, but NPIV is IMO de rigeur. If you don't use it, you are going to trigger an unwanted and unnecessary discussion from storage security people. Correct answer: "Why, yes, *of course* every virtual cable has its own WWPN. Why wouldn't it?" And, yes, even when you have only one LPAR or guest using the chpid. Otherwise you have to have administrative controls to audit and verify that the IOCDS hasn't created multiple subchannels on the chpid going to different LPARs, and/or you haven't assigned multiple subchannels to different guests.
